Marillana Project
CAZ: 100%
The Marillana Project is consists of one Exploration Licence (E47/2042) located approximately 55km north-west of Newman in a highly prospective iron ore region. The licence is 20km north of the >1Bt Rhodes Ridge Project (Rio) and east of BHP and Rio Tinto’s Yandi projects. The region is prospective for various iron ore deposit styles including Brockman Iron Formation and Marra Mamba Formation Bedded Iron Deposits, Channel Iron Deposits and Detrital Iron Deposits.
The Marillana Project is situated entirely within the Hamersley Group, comprising rocks of the Brockman Iron and Weeli Wolli Formations. The southern zone of the tenement covers approximately 5km strike of prospective Brockman Iron Formation, and the area has the potential to host bedded iron deposits (BID) within the Brockman Iron Formation, and channel iron deposits (CID) and detrital iron deposits (DID) over the Weeli Wolli Formation.
Helicopter-supported field reconnaissance conducted by Cazaly has identified the presence of enriched Banded Iron as well as minor detrital deposits on the flanks of several ridges in the southern portion of the tenement. Further work is planned on the area to test the for Channel Iron mineralisation beneath recent alluvium in the valley floors.
Meandering valleys and channels incised through eroded Brockman Iron Formation stratigraphy provide an approximate six kilometre Channel Iron and Detrital Iron exploration target within the southern portion of the tenement.
Nearby railway infrastructure provides development advantages for the project, with BHP Billiton’s Newman – Port Hedland Railway Line located approximately 20km to the east and Rio Tinto’s Yandicoogina Railway Line approximately 30km to the west.
